[08:05:04] <tpkessler|M> Looking at the "Required By" field, most packages that make depend on rocm-llvm only need it for amdclang++ but don't require the HIP runtime headers or libraries.
[08:06:28] <solskogen|M> I saw it because my fantastic automatic build system started compiling rocfft before rocm-llvm was finished
[08:07:19] <solskogen|M> and it takes a full 4 hours to build rocfft, so now I have to build it again :-)

[08:17:50] <solskogen|M> I'd say that's it a bug in the PKGBUILD. From Arch wiki: "The depends array should list all direct first level dependencies even when some are already declared transitively"
[08:34:05] <tpkessler|M> @solskogen:matrix.org Since hip-runtime-amd depends on rocm-llvm it should still be pulled in as a dep. But you definitely have a point. When ROCm moved from hipcc (in hip-runtime-amd) to amdclang++ (rocm-llvm) as its main compiler we didn't update the makedepends explicitly as it was still available indirectly via hip-runtime-amd.
